This was the second time Montag has seen and talked to Clarisse who was catching rain drops in her mouth. On page 22, she asked Montag if he has ever put a dandelion under his chin. He said no. Clarisse put it under his chin and no pollen rubbed off on it. The saying is if pollen does rub on to the chin then that person is in love. If not they are not in love. Therefor, according to the saying Montag was not in love. Montag got embarrassed and just said he was in love. It makes me wonder why Montag claims that Clarisse seems so much older than seventeen. Since she does a lot of childish things like, play in the rain and the dandelion saying. To me that seems like she wouldn't be mature.
