Journal Entry #8

As I was reading on to page 47, Montag was asking his wife if he had seen the girl across the street. His wife said that she forgot to tell him that the family moved four days ago, but she thinks the girl is dead. I could tell Montag got really upset and got a little agitated that his wife didn't tell him. Its weird that Montag never told his wife that he talked to her. It's also weird that Montag's wife just forgot about their neighbors moving out and the death of Clarisse. It shows how people don't talk about little things in the future. Now someone dying is a big thing in out lives now. Even if we do not know the person personally, We still grieve for the family. If someone dies close to the people we know it goes around because we live in such a little town. Montag is really upset, but his wife doesn't seem stressed about it at all. Her husband is hurting and she doesn't feel his pain. Just like earlier in the book when Montag is telling his wife about the lady who basically committed suicide by setting the fire herself around her and the books. Montag was tore up about that and showed his feelings in the book and to his wife. All she was worried about was money if Montag quit his job. This makes me think about the future and if all this may be true. Maybe in the future the little things won't matter as much to anyone.
