Journal Entry #9

On page 65 when Montag was talking to his wife Millie about reading books she didn't seem up to that idea. When he showed her the stack of books he has hidden away she got really pale and started to go crazy. She wanted to burn them but Montag wanted to read them first. She knew it was a very bad crime. Its so strange to me reading about how books are against the law and firemen try to burn all of them. We live in a place today where we probably see over 50 books a day and don't even realize it. We go to school and read, look up things in books and have homework in books. In the future if someone got caught reading they could get sent to the mental hospital. That makes no sense to me because what does reading have to do with being psycho? It's so weird comparing our world with the future world from this book. Millie and Montag are going to read these books together. I think this will bring them closer together because as I am reading they don't seem like the closest couple. Maybe this will make both of them think of the little things.
